My mother use to teach me this from the perspective of a farmer. She said that a tree that is near a good body of water has strong roots and will have a good and fruitfull life. And even if it is cut down, it will grow back. The tree by the water is liken unto being rooted in righteousness where in one will have part in the resurrection. So, what so ever you do, do in righteousness and without fear of the out come.
Psalms 1 and the Shema (See: Shema in middle of page), I believe, is what got me through my tour of duty as a soldier in Vietnam! I especially love the part of Psalms 1:3; "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in its seasons; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
