Turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb. It is the spice that gives curry its yellow color.

Deterioration of the immune system results in increased susceptibility to illnesses

The signs of malfunctioning immune system are:

-frequent infections and slow wound healing
-allergies
-chronic inflammation
-digestive issues (irritable bowel, yeast infestation, colitis)
-chronic illnesses (arthritis, asthma, eczema)
-auto-immune diseases
-cancer
-skin and other local and systemic infections
 

Tips for keeping your immune system healthy:

-Eat diet consisting of fresh food, without additives, low in sugars and saturated fats, include proteins in each meal to keep the insulin balance and do not overeat.

-Try fasting for a day (vegetable juices with low sugar content) every two weeks to help your body get rid of toxins.

-Do not go to bed exhausted and get sufficient amount of sleep ( immune system undergoes regeneration when asleep).

-Learn to deal with stress and relax (live in the present moment, learn to live with what is).

-Exercise regularly and in moderation (over-exercise suppresses immune activity).

-Do not smoke and drink  alcohol in moderation.

Other Considerations:
-stress (both emotional and physical=doing too much, intense sport activities) is probably the biggest culprit in our society--high levels of cortisol over a long period of time depresses the immune system

-Marijuana use weakens the immune system, THC alters the normal immune response, making the white blood cells 40% effective than normal.

-Mercury filling and heavy metal toxicity have been linked to a weakened immune system (to detect levels of heavy metals, consider laboratory testing).

-Under-active thyroid and low adrenal function could be a cause of immune deficiency.

-Food and environmental allergies put stress on the immune system.

-Psycho-emotional states directly effect the state of the immune system (positive states enhance the function of the immune system, negative states suppress the function of the immune system).


A few "alternative" ways some have used to support their own self-healing process:

-Vegetable juicing for fresh enzymes and its alkalizing effect.  Cancer tissue is acidic and loves acid condition.  Get a book on foods that alkalize the body.  Generally speaking, fruits and vegetables tend to do that.
-Remove stress by letting go and letting God.  Complete remission may come through the power of prayer.  Get into as many prayer groups and circles as possible.   Serving others in a charitable capacity is very helpful.  Love is the greatest healer.  Forgiving others allows us to forgive ourselves allowing healing to take place.
-Foods to avoid:  all refined sugars and starches; carbohydrates.  Eat mostly fresh raw fruit and vegetables, juices and extracts.  Do incorporate some good healthy protein.
-Sunshine (30 minutes per day minimum) or full spectrum lighting in house when it is winter.  Sunshine will shrink internal cancers which is know by the medical profession...
-Get to sleep by 10 pm in the evening.  Immune system revitalizes between 10 pm and 2 am.
-Any way to increase oxygen levels in the body, e.g. oxygen drops in your drinking water and hydrogen peroxide baths (use 3% from drugstore and use 2 to 4 quarts as desired and soak for 20 to 30 minutes at a time.) 
-almond oil, apricot oil, walnut oil or flaxseed oil on a daily basis

Cancer may develop when the immune system breaks down or does not function adequately.

What is the immune system and what are its components?

The immune system is a complex network of cells and organs that work together to defend the body against attacks by "foreign" or "non-self" invaders. This network is one of the body's main defenses against infection and disease.

The immune system works against diseases, including cancer, in a variety of ways. For example, the immune system may recognize the difference between healthy cells and cancer cells in the body and works to eliminate cancerous cells. However, the immune system does not always recognize cancer cells as "foreign." Also, cancer may develop when the immune system breaks down or does not function adequately. Biological therapies are designed to repair, stimulate, or enhance the immune system's responses.

Laughter Activates the Immune System: Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being.

Research results indicate that, after exposure to humor, there is a general increase in activity within the immune system, including:  An increase in the number and activity level of natural killer cells that attack viral infected cells and some types of cancer and tumor cells.

-An increase in activated T cells (T lymphocytes). There are many T cells that await activation. Laughter appears to tell the immune system to "turn it up a notch."
-An increase in the antibody IgA (immunoglobulin A), which fights upper respiratory tract insults and infections.
-An increase in gamma interferon, which tells various components of the immune system to "turn on."
-An increase in IgB, the immunoglobulin produced in the greatest quantity in body, as well as an increase in Complement 3, which helps antibodies to pierce dysfunctional or infected cells. The increase in both substances was not only present while subjects watched a humor video; there also was a lingering effect that continued to show increased levels the next day.
