They are self-propelled land vehicle which commonly have wheels. Trains and trams have wheels that operate on rails but they are not usually refered to in the comon usage of motor vhicle. The same apply to airplanes and helicopters; see: Quadcopters and Drones, as well as boats and ships and hovercrafts; see: Hovercrafting in Georgia.

Automotive repair

Automotive Repair means the general repair such as engine rebuilding or the reconditioning of motor vehicles which has been in a collision and is in need of service such as body, frame and fender straightening and repair and also painting of motor vehicles.

Auto repairs are performed when your vehicle is not functioning properly. However, maintenance is regular service to your vehicle that is required to keep your vehicle running at its peek. The repair service can be a fix or restore to the vehicle that has experienced a mechanical, electrical, or cosmetic problem. Some things are simple which you can sometimes fix yourself, but many manufacturers now have special covers over them, requiring you to need a mechanic.

Can you do your own car maintenance?

Yes in some cases you can do auto automotive repairs and maintenance. The thing to consider is do you have to have the resources to do so. You will need either the mechanical inclination or education, tools, time, and space in order to preform many tasks. However, You do not have to make the parts.

Consider the 3 C's when thinking about auto repair; understanding the condition, cause, and correction are necessary in order to complete a repair correctly.

Next you will want to consider if doing your own car maintenance worth it.

Doing your own car maintenance can save a lot of money (some times), but it also takes a lot of time. Therefore, if money is not an issue and you have access to a trustworthy mechanic, it might be best to hire a mechanic.

Is it worth it to repair your car?

If the cost of repairs exceeds the value of the car, it will probably be best to get a new car. Often times when a car with high mileage needs a significant repairs, it is time to replace it with another vehicle.

There is no specific mileage at which a car must be replaced, but many consider 100,000 miles to 150,000 miles as a point to start considering a new car or truck. However, a well-maintained vehicle can easily exceed 200,000 miles. However, the maintenance costs can become excessive. That being said, I have a 2014 chevy silverado with over 500,000 miles and the repair cost has exceeded the cost of a replacement - but I love my truck. I cannot do much of the repairs myself anymore so I send it to a trusted shop.

Simple things to Do yourself!

Here are a few simple things most anyone can do themselves: Check engine oil; Check tire pressure; Inspect belts and hoses; Replace wiper blades (or many auto-parts stores will have a sales person replace them for you); Add washer fluid; and maybe Change light bulbs.
