Mindfulness Manifesting ... the attentive awareness of living in the present moment
Mindfulness is one of the seven factors of enlightenment. It is a spiritual path to enlightenment
according to the teaching of the Buddha. "Correct" or "right" mindfulness (the seventh element of the noble
eightfold path) is the attentive awareness of the reality of things, especially of the present moment.
Mindfulness is the state of being in which greed, hatred and delusion have been overcome, abandoned and are
absent from the mind.
Mindfulness - Philosophy & Spirituality
Mindfulness applies to bodily actions as well as the mind's own thoughts and feelings.
Mindfulness
is the practice whereby a person is intentionally aware of his or her thoughts and actions in the present moment. Mindfulness is a prerequisite for developing
insight and wisdom.
Mindfulness is an activity that can be done at any time. You simply observe the moment in which you find
yourself without judging, reflecting or thinking. It is the path which allows you to be taught and then teach.
It can be done while sitting, or standing. It can be the focusing on the breath, but mostly, it is the
bringing of the mind to focus on what is happening in the present moment, while simply noticing the mind's usual "commentary".
Example of Mindfulness
Mindful of the mind's commentary: "I wish I didn't have to walk any further, I like the sound of the leaves
rustling, I wish washing dishes wasn't so boring and the soap wasn't drying out my skin", etc.
Any activity done mindfully is a form of meditation. One can be mindful of the sound of the wind in the trees,
of the sensations in one's feet while walking, or the feeling of the soapy water while doing dishes.
As we closely observe inner reality, we find that happiness is not a quality brought about by a change in
outer circumstances. It starts with by realizing our own "mindless" unhappiness. Therefore, it's the automatic reactions toward pleasant and unpleasant
situations or feelings.

Part of Mastering the Art of Living includes revering and cherishing our Living Treasures, our Beloved Elders! This year, as every year, we celebrate them with “Yom Sayvah” or Elders Day, a special time of the year where we give honor and thanks to those who’s shoulders we stand on and who we continue to seek wisdom, guidance and inspiration!
