Martial Arts Mind and Body

Path: Sports, Money and Profit Martial Arts

Martial art such as Kung-Fu and Tai-chi teaches us that the Mind, Body and Spirit are interlinked and about the vital points and channels in the human body.

When we engage in practicing martial arts, we find balance, strength and harmony and we learn to synchronize with the Supreme Spirit, the spirit that moves all things or as some know it, Supreme Consciousness.

When Bodhidharma travelled from India to China he gave more in-depth knowledge about breathing techniques and meditation as practiced in Yoga. He enhanced their performance, but most importantly he gave it a spiritual dimension as practiced today as the only authentic and practical form of Tantra Yoga and taught by Ananda Marga monks and nuns.

What is today known as "Zen" was earlier "Chan" and originally "Dhyan" in Sanskrit. It means "Ideation on the Supreme", a higher form of meditation taught in the 6th. lesson of Ananda Marga.

NOVA: Secrets of the Samurai Sword (2008)

English archers had their longbows, Old West sheriffs had their six-shooters, but samurai warriors had the most fearsome weapon of all: the razor-sharp katana, or samurai sword, which could slice through a human body with a single slash. Japanese sword-making was perfected 600 years ago by craftsmen who knew nothing of electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, and other tools of modern science, which are only now revealing exactly why the swords are so lethal. For the first time, these new clues are helping to explain the unique qualities of strength, resilience, and sharpness of the blade that was wielded so expertly by Japan's fearsome feudal warriors.Join NOVA's investigation of the centuries-old secrets behind the making of this ultimate medieval superweapon. The program follows fifteen traditional Japanese craftsmen who spend nearly six months creating a sword, from smelting the ore to forging the steel and finally to sharpening the blade to its keen and deadly edge.
