RC Model Airplanes
RC Model Airplanes - a radio-controlled aircraft (also called RC aircraft or RC plane) is a small
flying model aircraft that is controlled remotely by an operator on the ground using a hand-held radio
transmitter. Flying RC (radio-controlled) aircraft as a hobby has been growing worldwide. The advent of
more efficient motors (both electric and miniature internal combustion or jet engines), lighter and more
powerful batteries and less expensive radio systems has make RC hobby accessable to a larger number of people.
And there is a wide variety of models and styles available.
There are many organizations utilizing RC aircraft. These range from Scientific experiments for gathering weather
readings or testing aerodynamic with modeling, and government / military using them as drones or spy planes.
Radio control scale aircraft modeling is a good way for the testing of future aviation designs.
I tend to like helcopters because I am an ex-army helicopter pilot. Radio-controlled helicopters, although often
grouped with RC aircraft, are in a class of their own because of the vast differences in construction, aerodynamics
and flight training. While I personally like helicopters better, I also love fix-wing aircraft. The jets are a little
out of my price range, but hope to get into RC jets in the future.
