Reversing Diabetes: Discover the Natural Way to Take Control of Type 2 Diabetes
It is possible to manage and even reverse diabetes through natural means, and in Reversing Diabetes, Dr. Colbert shows you how. Most people view diabetes as a dead-end street—once you receive a diabetes diagnosis, your only option is to manage the symptoms with a restricted diet, close monitoring of blood sugar, and expensive medications. Dr. Colbert shows that diabetes can be treated instead through safe, natural means, like healthy food and vitamins rather than strictly relying on prescription drugs. He shows you how to manage your weight and your glucose intake with a whole-body approach, using nutritional supplements along with dietary and lifestyle changes to lose weight, repair cell damage, improve insulin function, and reduce the side effects from prescription drugs, many of which rob nutrients from the body and cause additional symptoms. Based on the same life-changing principles of the low-glycemic, high-fiber eating plan provided in Dr. Colbert’s New York Times best-selling book, Dr. Colbert’s “I Can Do This” Diet, this audio book adapts that plan in a way that makes it ideal for diabetics who need to manage their glucose levels and their weight.
Causes of Diabetes
While the cause of diabetes are not clearly known, diet is a major factor responsible for the
cause of diabetes. Diabetes mellitus occurs when the pancreas doesn't make enough or any of
the hormone insulin, or when the insulin produced doesn't work effectively. This causes the level of glucose in the blood to be too high.
Our body need a balanced diet to produce the neccessary energy for performing vital
functions. Eating too much fats, carbohydrates and proteins are harmful to the body. Also,
too much food hampers the pancreas ability to secrete insulin. The incidences of diabetes
increases in people with a habit of eating foods "rich" in refined carbohydrates like biscuts
white bread, cakes, chocolate, ice creams, and puddings. This rise of the blood sugar along with insufficient insulin secretion leads to diabetes melllitus.
Excessive body weight serves as a factor for diabetes. Insulin does not function properly in a body that has an extra amount of fat. The main function of the insulin is to allow the sugar to enter the muscle and tissue cells from the blood. However, due to increase body fat, the muscle and tissue cells become resistant to the insulin. Thus, leading to high blood sugar level (hyperglycemia) and finally diabetes.
Grief, anxiety, worry, death of any person close, etc. may alter the level of the blood sugar and lead to diabetes. An irregular and chaotic life style will deeply influence the metabolism of the body and cause pancreatic insufficiency. Thus, emotional stress can also lead to diabetes.
